A Bit About Tahnesha

Tahnesha began her college journey at Saint Joseph’s Women’s College before eventually graduating with a B.A in Human Services from Albertus Magnus College. She always had a passion for serving others and thought "what better way to feed that enthusiasm than working at Parent’s Foundation." Previously, she has worked for nonprofit organizations such as the United Way and law enforcement agencies such as the Bridgeport Police Department and the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections. She hopes to eventually pursue a master’s degree in Mental Health counseling.

One of Tahnesha's favorite activities to do with the residents is “Name that Tune” during snack socials. She thinks it is so energizing to see residents dancing, laughing, and playfully competing among each other to their favorite songs. "Playing music from different periods seems to take the residents back their childhoods, adolescent years, college life, etc."  Tahnesha believes music can heal the wounds that medicine cannot touch.

"During my time here at Parent’s Foundation, I have had many proud moments. Most of them include instances where residents overcame an obstacle, learned a new life skill, acquired a job, or eventually transitioned back into a life outside of Parent’s Foundation. To see them work so long and hard and then see the results of their labors, knowing you were there to support them every step of the way, makes me proud. My favorite quote is 'Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth.' "
