A Bit About Shauna

Shauna is proud to be one of the Recovery and Enrichment Specialists, beginning her journey at PFTL in October of 2020. She began her career as a graduate from Salve Regina University, where she studied English Literature and Theatre, ran Cross Country and played the cello. She previously worked in positions as an Editorial Assistant for a Publishing Company, as well as in Internet Marketing. However, Shauna knew that she wanted to make a difference in people’s lives, impacting them differently and more personally. Everyone has a story. It only takes one person to change another’s life completely. Shauna’s life goal and passion has become being that one person to change every resident’s narrative. To put positivity in their personal story and journey for the better. She is passionate about the entire mental health field and helping others, and loves that she can do just that for the residents every single day at Parents’ Foundation.

Some of Shauna’s favorite activities with the residents here are daily interactions with them and being a part of their everyday successes. She enjoys creating a weekly creative expressions group where the residents can get out of their comfort zone to try something new. Shauna has been able to watch residents create music and art out of everyday objects, finish projects they never thought they could have, and sees their joy come out when participating in groups.

“My proudest moment here was collaborating with residents and beginning a successful acting group. Every resident has brought a significant skill, whether that be their own background in acting and being able to demonstrate warming up, to music cues by playing the piano and perhaps more importantly seeing a resident participate and try something new for the first time. With a future performance and play planned, I am proud of the residents coming together to create something so remarkably cohesive

and working as a team.”
