Who We Support

Residents at Parents’ Foundation are adults age 18 and older living with mental health conditions included but not limited to schizophrenia, schizoaffective, mood disorders (such as bipolar disorder), depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and general anxiety disorder. We also provide support for substance abuse recovery and medically stable eating disorders. For those in substance abuse recovery, a minimum of 12 months of sobriety/staying clean is required and must be maintained in order to remain living in the house. Substance abuse is not tolerated in the house and is cause for discharge to a high level of care to manage the relapse in recovery.

Given that Parents’ Foundation is not a treatment center, all of our residents receive their psychiatric and therapeutic care from various partners and providers in the community. New Haven offers a broad variety of psychiatric treatment options including psychiatrists, psychologists, and licensed therapists, intensive outpatient programs, and cutting-edge research programs. Parents’ Foundation has close partnerships with many providers who support our residents with flexible care that both meets our residents where they are and also stretches them to achieve new goals. The entire team works closely with residents, families, and treatment providers to support the development of appropriate goal plans, which align with treatment plans and resident needs and goals.
